Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino has announced that USDT’s global user base has surpassed 730 million, with the stablecoin adding approximately 30 million wallets every quarter. The latest figure represents growth of approximately 38% from the estimated 534.5 million users recorded at the end of 2025. Tether previously reported reaching 500 million users in October 2025 before surpassing 650 million in August 2026.
Ardoino disclosed the figures during his keynote at the Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano, Switzerland. He also revealed that Tether holds approximately 150,000 Bitcoin valued at $11.5 billion.
This exceeds the 100,060 BTC reflected in Tether’s Q3 2026 reserve report, which listed $8.37 billion in Bitcoin backing USDT. However, Ardoino did not clarify the difference, which may include corporate Bitcoin investments held separately from stablecoin reserves.
USDT’s growing user base reinforces its position as a major dollar-based financial network, particularly in emerging markets where access to dollar-denominated services remains limited.
