A Trust Wallet user has reported losing 3,830 USDT from his wallet without knowingly approving a transaction, raising fresh concerns about wallet security and the risks facing self-custody users. In a November 3 post on X, user Iaroslav Dubovoi, known as @noirvox_studio, said he discovered that approximately $3,830 in USDT had disappeared when he opened his Trust Wallet application.
Dubovoi, who claimed to have used the wallet for about five years, said blockchain records showed that the funds had been transferred, despite him not knowingly authorizing the transaction or receiving a warning. He questioned how the transfer occurred and called on Trust Wallet to explain the incident.
His report comes alongside other complaints from Trust Wallet users. One user said tokens exchanged for USDC never arrived, while another alleged that an individual impersonating a support representative on NEAR Protocol’s Discord server drained his wallet. Screenshots shared in the latter case reportedly showed outgoing transactions involving multiple cryptocurrencies. Trust Wallet Support responded to the complaints by providing troubleshooting instructions and offering assistance through its support system.
However, the available reports do not establish that the incidents resulted from a vulnerability or security breach in Trust Wallet itself. The cause of Dubovoi’s reported loss also remains unclear.
The complaints highlight the security challenges associated with self-custody wallets, where users are responsible for protecting their recovery phrases, devices, and transaction access. Until the reported incidents are investigated, it remains unclear whether the losses resulted from compromised credentials, malicious approvals, impersonation, or another security issue.
