Morgan Stanley to Pass 100% of Ether and Solana Staking Rewards Directly to Investors

Morgan Stanley Investment Management has expanded its digital asset offerings with the launch of Ethereum and Solana exchange-traded products (ETPs) that will pass 100% of staking rewards directly to investors. The move highlights the growing shift among institutional asset managers toward combining crypto exposure with yield-generating investment products.

Morgan Stanley has launched the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (NYSE Arca: MSSE) and the Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (NYSE Arca: MSOL), providing institutional investors with regulated exposure to Ether and Solana. Both products carry a 0.14% management fee and will stake a portion of their underlying digital assets. Unlike many investment products, all staking rewards generated will be distributed directly to investors rather than retained by Morgan Stanley.

The launch follows the firm's recent expansion into spot cryptocurrency trading through its E*TRADE platform, where eligible clients can buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana using infrastructure provided by Zero Hash. The products also arrive shortly after Grayscale introduced similar investment vehicles that distribute staking rewards from Ethereum and Solana holdings, reflecting growing competition among asset managers to offer income-generating crypto investment products.

Morgan Stanley entered the spot Bitcoin ETF market earlier in April 2026 with the launch of the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT), becoming the first major U.S. commercial bank to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF. As of July 16, 2026, the fund reportedly managed more than $381 million in assets. The development also mirrors a broader trend across traditional finance. In June 2026, BlackRock introduced its iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF (BITA), allowing investors to generate income through option premiums while maintaining Bitcoin exposure.

Morgan Stanley's latest launch demonstrates how institutional crypto investing is evolving beyond simple asset exposure toward income-generating investment strategies. As competition among asset managers intensifies, products that combine regulated crypto access with staking rewards and other yield opportunities are likely to play an increasingly important role in bringing digital assets into mainstream investment portfolios.
