X has rolled out a new “smart cashtags” feature for iPhone users in the United States and Canada, allowing posts to display live asset prices, charts, and blockchain-related data directly within the platform.
The update introduces interactive cashtags that automatically generate real-time price charts and discussions when users mention specific assets or contract addresses.
According to Nikita Bier, his feature enhances how users engage with financial content by making market data instantly accessible within posts. At launch, the feature is limited to iOS users in select regions, but expansion to Android, web platforms, and additional countries is already in progress.
X has also partnered with Wealthsimple to enable users in Canada to buy and sell stocks and cryptocurrencies without leaving the app. Although this functionality is not yet available in the U.S., it provides insight into how X may introduce trading services globally.
This rollout comes after internal efforts to improve platform safety and compliance, including the removal of bot accounts and harmful links.
Market observers, including Tat Thang, believe this move reflects a broader shift toward a Web3-style ecosystem, similar to integrated financial apps seen in other regions.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk previously revealed plans for “X Money,” a feature expected to include peer-to-peer payments, savings options with returns, and a debit card offering cashback benefits.
This development strengthens X’s position as a potential all-in-one platform combining social interaction with financial services.
