Crypto 101: The Fundamentals

Understanding Blockchain, Bitcoin, and the future of money.

What is a Blockchain?

Imagine a digital notebook that is shared among thousands of computers. When a page is filled with notes (transactions), it is sealed and glued to the previous page. This chain of pages is the Blockchain.

Because everyone has a copy, no single person can cheat or erase a page. This creates a system of Trustless Verification—you don't need a bank to verify money was sent; the code does it for you.

Bitcoin vs. Altcoins

Bitcoin (BTC)

The first cryptocurrency. It acts as "Digital Gold"—a store of value with a limited supply of 21 million coins.

Altcoins (ETH, SOL, etc.)

Alternative coins. Many, like Ethereum, aren't just money; they are platforms for running applications (Smart Contracts).
